Mayor Of Nellyville Getting Up Close With His Citizens

Nelly's tour of mid-sized venues begins July 10 in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Nelly’s getting all up in your face. On the Up Close & Personal tour, which kicks off July 10 in Grand Prairie, Texas, the rapper will be trading in arenas for theaters and other mid-sized venues.

The 28-date Nelly and the St. Lunatics tour ends August 19 after a two-night stand in his hometown of St. Louis. Tickets for all shows will be priced from between $10 and $50.

After he finishes touring, Nelly will launch his record label, Derrty Entertainment. The first release will be Murphy Lee’s Murphy’s Law, which drops in September. Lee is the youngest member of the St. Lunatics.

Nelly is still touring to support the multiplatinum Nellyville, which was released exactly one year ago.

On Saturday, Nelly spearheaded an event to enroll minorities in the National Bone Marrow Registry. The campaign was named after his sister Jackie, who has leukemia and needs a bone-marrow transplant to survive (see “Nelly Encourages Minorities To Become Bone-Marrow Donors” ).
