It's already beginning to sound a lot like Christmas.

The 12-track Maybe This Christmas provides a platform for artists such as Phantom Planet, Vanessa Carlton, Coldplay and Jimmy Eat World to interpret traditional holiday songs as well as showcase original material. The LP is set for release November 5, according to the album's publicist.

Most of the songs exclusive to Maybe This Christmas were recorded in the last two months, including Vanessa Carlton's piano-driven take on the traditional classic "Greensleeves," Sense Field's version of John Lennon and Yoko Ono's "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)," "What a Year for a New Year" by Semisonic's Dan Wilson and Bright Eyes' cover of "Blue Christmas," most famously sung by Elvis Presley.

Although previously recorded, Phantom Planet's cover of "Winter Wonderland," Coldplay's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and Ben Folds' original "Bizarre Christmas Incident" were gifts to fan club members and have never been commercially available.

Jimmy Eat World's "12.23.95," a reference to "Little Christmas Eve," was plucked from their 1999 LP, Clarity.

The LP also features the work of artist/designer Paul Frank, whose creation Julius, the illustrated, wide-mouth monkey, has become increasingly emblazoned upon T-shirts, handbags and other items of hipster apparel.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Maybe This Christmas will benefit Toys for Tots.
