U2, Dave Matthews Lead My VH1 Music Awards Nominees

Fans can vote online for winners in such categories as Is It Hot in Here or Is It Just My Video?

The people have spoken, or at least they’ve logged on and suggested categories and chosen finalists for the My VH1 Music Awards ’01.

Now fans can vote for the winners on VH1.com between now and December 2, the night of the televised celebration. There are 15 categories, ranging from straightforward (My Favorite Male, My Favorite Female) to playful (Your Song Kicked Ass But Was Played Too Damn Much, Is It Hot in Here or Is It Just My Video?)

U2 and the Dave Matthews Band received the most nominations, with six each. Gwen Stefani has five, Staind and Alicia Keys have four, and Bon Jovi, Moby, Train, and the Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mya & Pink collaboration for “Lady Marmalade” all received three.

Performers for the My VH1 Music Awards ’01 include Mick Jagger, Creed, Sting, Nelly Furtado, Lenny Kravitz, Destiny’s Child and No Doubt. Additional performers and a host will be announced in the weeks ahead. The event will take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles
