Mandy Moore Speaks Out Against Hatred Toward Muslims

Pop star's public service announcement to be delivered to more than 10,000 radio stations beginning Monday.

Mandy Moore has joined the ranks of U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft and Senator John McCain by recording a public service radio spot speaking out against hatred toward Muslims and Arabs.

Moore recorded the 30-second spot last week, according to a spokesperson for the Arab American Institute, which co-sponsored the PSAs along with the Ad Council. Moore's advertisement will be delivered to more than 10,000 radio stations beginning Monday.

"We all know America is going through some rough times, but that's no reason to hate people who don't look like you," Moore says in the spot. "Discrimination and violence against Arab- and Muslim-Americans is not what this country is all about and will not be tolerated."

The PSAs urge anyone who wants to report incidents of racially motivated violence and crimes to call the United States Commission on Civil Rights at 800-552-6843.
