George Harrison Says He's 'Fine' After Cancer Treatment

Guitarist faced third cancer scare since 1998 in June.

Former Beatles guitarist George Harrison told fans on Monday that he's "fine" despite undergoing treatment for a brain tumor in June.

"I am feeling fine and I am really sorry for the unnecessary worry which has been caused by the reports appearing in today's press. Please do not worry," he wrote.

The Swiss newspaper Sonntagzeitung reported Sunday that Harrison had been treated with radiotherapy in June at the Oncology Institute of Southern Switzerland in Bellinzona.

In a statement, the hospital said Harrison successfully completed his treatment more than a month ago. "We foresee no need for further treatment," it concluded.

It's the third cancer scare for the Beatle since 1998. Harrison, a former smoker, was given a clean bill of health after receiving radiation therapy for a cancerous throat nodule in 1998. He also had a cancerous growth removed from his lungs earlier this year at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota (see [article id="1443389"]"George Harrison Recovering From Cancer Surgery"[/article]).
