Jay-Z Assault Case Postponed Until Mid-July

Rapper accused of stabbing record executive Lance 'Un' Rivera in 1999.

Jay-Z's 1999 assault case has been pushed back once again, with jury selection for a trial now scheduled for July 16.

Jay-Z had been set to appear in court on Thursday (June 14), but the date was changed because one of his lawyers, Murray Richman, is handling an unrelated trial in the Bronx, according to a spokesperson for the Manhattan District Attorney's office.

The rapper had previously been set to go to trial last month, but that date was changed because Richman was busy with yet another case (see [article id="1443790"]"Jay-Z Assault Case Could Go To Trial In June"[/article]).

Jay-Z, who maintains his innocence, is accused of stabbing record executive Lance "Un" Rivera during a nightclub dispute on December 1, 1999.

The rapper is also scheduled to appear in court June 26 for a hearing on unrelated gun charges arising when police allegedly found a weapon in his bodyguard's waistband outside a New York nightclub in April (see [article id="1442815"]"Jay-Z Says He's '100 Percent Innocent' After Arraignment"[/article]).
