Keb' Mo' Lines Up Tour, Readies New Album

Bluesman's Big Wide Grin due June 5.

Bluesman Keb' Mo' is keeping busy, with a new album in the works and a new batch of tour dates set for this summer.

Keb' Mo' (born Kevin Moore) has been touring on and off since the October 2000 release of The Door (RealAudio excerpt of title track), which found him pushing his acoustic blues into R&B, gospel and pop territories.

He calls his next record, Big Wide Grin (June 5), a "family album," with songs aimed at both children and adults, according to his label. In addition to new originals like "Flat Feet Floogie" and "Intimate Eyes," the album includes covers of Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely," Sly and the Family Stone's "Family Affair" and Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi."

Keb' Mo's U.S. dates begin May 19 in Annapolis, Maryland, and run through the end of June, when he'll head to Europe. He'll be back in the States on August 3, however, and will wrap up the trip later that month with two solo acoustic shows in Illinois and Michigan. For the other dates on his tour, he'll be accompanied by bassist Reggie McBride, pianist Jeff Paris, drummer Les Falconer and guitarist Clayton Gibb.
