Songbird Nelly Furtado Takes Flight With Moby's Area: One

Canadian pop singer to join Roots, Incubus, New Order others in roving festival.

Moby's Area: One tour has taken on yet another dimension with the addition of Canadian pop singer Nelly Furtado.

She'll join Moby, the Roots, Incubus, Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold, New Order and other yet-to-be-named artists for the roving dance-rap-rock-pop festival, a spokesperson for Furtado's label, DreamWorks, said Friday (April 20).

Furtado will wrap up her own headlining tour (see [article id="1439326"]"Whoa, Nelly Furtado Plans U.S. Tour "[/article]) before popping in on the Area: One festival between July 11 and 28. Her debut album, Whoa, Nelly!, currently perches at #31 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

The Area: One tour, which kicks off July 11 in Washington, DC and wraps up August 5 in Los Angeles, marks Moby's first foray into the summer-festival circuit. Area: One will hit 16 North American cities.

All details concerning Area: One, including the full artist lineup, dates, venues and sponsorship, will be announced Monday (April 23) at a New York press conference.
