As if sharing the stage with U2 and David Gray and strutting her stuff on "SNL" and "VH1 Divas Live" wasn't enough, Canadian popster Nelly Furtado has logged studio time with rap queenpin Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott.
The 22-year-old songbird loaned her vocal talents to a remix of Elliott's "Get Ur Freak On." There is no word on when or where the remix will become available, but the track has been heard piping over the PA before Furtado's live shows.
A Furtado-free version of the single appears on Elliott's third album, Miss E ... So Addictive, due out May 15. The Timbaland-produced LP will feature cameos from the likes of Jay-Z, Eve, Method Man, Redman, Da Brat, Ludacris, Memphis Bleek and Ginuwine.
Meanwhile, Furtado's been flying solo in the U.S. with her debut single, "I'm Like a Bird." The song, which has not been released as a retail single, has been rising up the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it perches at #37.
You can catch Furtado performing her hit track when "VH1 Divas Live" airs on Tuesday night, her publicist said. A tribute to Aretha Franklin, the show will feature performances by Lady Soul along with Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Kid Rock and more and benefits VH1's Save the Music Foundation. The extravaganza airs live from Radio City Music Hall starting at 9 p.m. ET on VH1.
Furtado's "Divas" appearance follows a couple of dates on U2's Elevation Tour; she did the opening honors on their Atlanta and North Carolina dates. After a brief rest, the songstress will join Welsh singer/songwriter David Gray on the West Coast leg of his North American tour.
