Beck, David Gray, Travis On Live Radio Album

Sounds Eclectic also will feature Patti Smith, Badly Drawn Boy, Yo-Yo Ma.

Beck, David Gray and Travis are featured on Sounds Eclectic, an upcoming compilation honoring one of public radio's most influential shows.

The album, due April 3, features music from "Sounds Eclectic," a weekly two-hour Public Radio International program that culls the best performances from "Morning Becomes Eclectic," the legendary daily three-hour morning program broadcast from Santa Monica's KCRW, the flagship NPR station in Southern California.

KCRW'S Sounds Eclectic includes live studio performances by a diverse group of acts including classical cellist Yo-Yo Ma, rock poet Patti Smith and young Britpop singer/songwriter Badly Drawn Boy, follows the release of 1999's Morning Becomes Eclectic, which featured PJ Harvey, Semisonic, Air, Beth Orton, Cake and Sixpence None the Richer.

Gray's breakthrough 2000 hit "Babylon," Beck's haunting "Lonesome Whistle" and Shivaree's sultry "Goodnight Moon" are some of the new compilation's highlights.

"Sounds Eclectic" airs Saturday mornings on KCRW and on more than a dozen NPR stations across the country. The show is also broadcast online at www.KCRWmusic.com, and more than 6,000 hours of archived "Sound Eclectic" material can be heard at www.soundseclectic.com.

Nic Harcourt, KCRW's music director and host of both shows, has been credited with the American on-air debuts of Moby, Garbage, Semisonic and Travis, and is revered for his early support of Gray, Dido and Shelby Lynne.

"'Morning Becomes Eclectic' is all about music, not personality, which is a nice change," Travis singer Fran Healy said in a statement. "And if Nic gets behind your album, you'll see results."
