Drum'N'Bass Master LTJ Bukem Gears Up For Tour

MC Conrad, PFM will join London DJ/producer on 26-date outing, kicking off March 28.

LTJ Bukem, drum'n'bass' leading DJ/producer, will support a new collection of recent and classic tracks with yet another comprehensive DJ tour, beginning next month.

Bukem will be joined on all 26 dates, as always, by his MC companion Conrad, with PFM, an artist from his Good Looking Organisation, slotted as the opening act. With hardly a day off, the tour will reach every region of the United States — much like Bukem's past jaunts in the last two years — and will even venture into Puerto Rico for one show.

The London producer has emerged as one of the few drum'n'bass artists to maintain a devoted following as the style's popularity has waned over the last year. In fact, Bukem's double-disc solo debut, Journey Inwards, released last April, largely avoided the monotonous trappings of drum 'n' bass, and instead focused on incorporating elements of soul and jazz into an innovative format that combined electronic and organic instruments.

Tracks such as "Inner Guidance" and "Deserted Vaults" were equally groove-oriented and rhythmically challenging, and were a refreshing new direction from such classic Bukem cuts as "Music" and "Demon's Theme." Those latter songs are, incidentally, featured on Bukem's new compilation, Producer, the first in a new Good Looking series. The compilation assembles for the first time tracks such as "Cosmic Interlude" and "Coolin' Out," which were previously available only as singles or on other compilations.

Conrad has also issued the first volume in the new Vocalist series, which highlights the MC's key role in drum'n'bass. In a style similar to the Jamaican DJ, he toasts over nine past Good Looking cuts by artists such as PFM, Blame and Big Bud on the collection, which also includes "Orchestral Jam," the first song by Conrad's new Words 2 B Heard collective of rappers, producers, DJs and singers.
