De La Soul DJ Maseo apparently has so much "art official intelligence," he's auctioning it off to the highest bidder.

Maseo is offering a one-hour private DJ lesson on the popular auction Web site eBay, at a price beginning at $1,000.

The item also includes autographed CDs of De La Soul's entire catalog, a pair of tickets to see the New York hip-hop trio perform and invitations to De La Soul-related parties. The auction ends February 23.

According to the eBay listing, the purchaser must pay airfare, transportation and hotel fees, if he or she lives outside of Maseo's native New York.

"I'm just fiddling around with the Internet," Maseo said. "This is essentially just another way of me booking myself."

Maseo said he got the idea from a cousin, who had heard that basketball star Kobe Bryant had auctioned off basketball lessons.

De La Soul, who formed in the late '80s in Long Island, New York, are up for their first Grammy for Best Rap Performance Duo or Group, for their single "Oooh" (RealAudio excerpt), which features rapper Redman.

Art Official Intelligence: Mosaic Thump, De La Soul's fifth full-length album, debuted at #9 on the Billboard 200 albums chart last summer. Busta Rhymes, Xzibit, Chaka Khan and Beastie Boys Mike D and Ad Rock guest on the album.

Maseo and guest vocalist Kovas contributed "Words & Verbs" to last year's Hip Hop 101 compilation, which was executive-produced by De La Soul.

On his eBay posting, Maseo includes a link to the new single "Rejuvenation (Move Stomp)," by DV Alias Kyhrst, who are signed to his Bearmountain Entertainment label.
