Pan sonic To Hit North America In March

Finnish experimental electronic duo supporting fourth album, Aaltopiiri, with world tour beginning February 17 in Singapore.

Prepare to get your glitch on: Pan sonic are coming to North America.

The Finnish experimental electronic duo of Mika Vainio and Ilpo Vaisanen will support their fourth album, Aaltopiiri, released January 16, with the 18-city Around the World tour, which opens February 17 in Singapore. Pan sonic are pioneers in the realm of live electronic-music performance, incorporating innovative visual elements to create an immersive sonic environment.

Following dates in Australia, New Zealand and Argentina, the duo will play the tour's first North American show March 17 in Tijuana, Mexico, before hitting eight other North American cities, including three in Canada. The jaunt's final leg starts with a string of seven shows in Reykjavík, Iceland, at the beginning of April and ends with two gigs in Ireland.

Although it contains 17 tracks of metallic textures that are alternately spare, fragile and taut, Aaltopiiri is united by a sensitivity to the stark emotion conveyed by machine-made music in an abstract setting. Still steadfastly minimal in their approach, Vainio and Vaisanen have largely shifted away from the sometimes-abrasive tones and crackles of their earlier records on their latest endeavor.
