While the men of Ween are currently making the rounds in support of their new live double album, "Paintin' The Town Brown," they are already planning their next studio album.

"We are about ready to cut our next record in September when we come back, so I'm pretty excited about that," Gene Ween told MTV News shortly before launching the duo's current U.S. tour. "It's probably going to be our best record."

"Probably. I wouldn't be surprised," his brother in arms Dean Ween added.

After sorting through old DAT tapes to piece together the live retrospective "Paintin'," Dean and Gene found plenty of quiet time in which to write new material for the album.

"We have pretty much been doing nothing for about a year and a half now, and we managed to get ourselves in to different spots," Gene explained. "We have been to Maine for a couple of weeks and to the Jersey shore for a couple of weeks, and we've just been writing and recording. We are going back in September and recording

in the studio, but we have most of the material written for the next record."

"It's not going to be a theme record or anything," Dean offered, "but there is a lot of smooth jazz going on, especially since we started rehearsingŠ I'm not kidding either."
