Third Eye Blind Only Semi Charmed: Bassist Falls Ill In England

December 16 [10:00 EDT] -- The last few months have been great for San Francisco's Third Eye Blind, but December has so far been a reminder that they're only leading "semi-charmed' lives.

First, [article id="1434816"]as we reported last week[/article], singer Stephan Jenkins fell off the stage while rehearsing for a Fox TV New Year's Eve Special December 8 and knocked himself unconscious.

Now the BBC reports that the San Francisco band missed the start of their U.K. tour with the Seahorses, in particular one of their most important shows -- the Garage in London, England on December 11 -- when bassist Arion Salazar had to be rushed to the hospital with a viral infection.

The band appeared to be leading fully charmed lives up until now, however. They scored a hit record with their self-titled debut album and the single, "Semi-Charmed Life." They were asked to open key dates on the two biggest tours of the year, U2 and the Rolling Stones. And they

they've landed a number of prestigious appearances and award nominations.

Things will hopefully be looking up in 1998. Third Eye Blind play a New Years Eve show in Hawaii, then in February begin a three-month tour of America sharing a bill with Smash Mouth.
