Stereophonics Plug In For North American Tour, Discuss Writing On The Road

Stereophonics are currently in the Land Down Under, touring alongside native punksters The Living End, but the Welsh trio will be back in the U.S. next month for a brief promo outing prior to heading over to Norway to open for the Red Hot Chili Peppers' European tour.

The group just released its second album, "Performance & Cocktails," in the States, and as frontman Kelly Jones recently told MTV News, the band recorded most of the album in between its last tour of America and Australia, and its live set ended up influencing the final sound of the LP.

[article id="1450919"]"We were doing tours everywhere,"[/article] Jones said, [article id="1450919"]"and when we'd finish a four-week tour somewhere, we'd come back and record for a couple of weeks. Then we'd do a few more weeks touring, come back for a couple of weeks, and that's the way the writing had happened [as well]."[/article]

[article id="1450919"]"We did a great deal

of writing when we were in America last time,"[/article] he continued, [article id="1450919"]"[and also] in Australia. Last March and April was when we were in America and Australia last, and that's when we were doing a lot of writing on the road. We pretty much always record that way."[/article]

[article id="1450919"]"I don't think we'd ever want to go into a studio for four months to make an album,"[/article] Jones said. [article id="1450919"]"We prefer to do some touring, back and forth. That way, you can actually go back and look at what you've done and see if it works when you're playing it live." [RealVideo][/article]
