Britney Spears Sidelined For A Month Following Knee Injury

After canceling plans for a video shoot and pulling out of several TV appearances, teen phenom Britney Spears is currently at a hospital in New Orleans, recovering from the minor surgery needed to treat the knee injury she suffered last month (see [article id="1434419"]"Britney Spears' Knee Injury Delays Video Shoot, 'Tonight Show' Appearance"[/article]).

The operation was performed last Wednesday at the Doctors Hospital in New Orleans by Tim Pinney, the chief doctor for the New Orleans Saints NFL team, who removed a one-inch piece of cartilage from Britney's knee with three simple incisions.

Doctors have advised Spears to remain off her leg for the next month, meaning that the singer will also miss out on this year's Spring Break festivities. Regardless, Spears issued a statement thanking fans for their outpour of concern.

"I want to thank my wonderful fans and all of the people who have offered their love and support during this time," Spears' statement

read.

Once her leg has fully recovered, Spears plans to finally shoot the video for "Sometimes," the same clip she was rehearsing for when the knee injury occurred.
