After taking on the nonfiction world earlier this year, Britney Spears and her mother, Lynne Spears, have inked a deal to deliver a novel to bookstores in May.

Random House Children's Books said the mother-daughter team's first novel will likely carry the title "A Mother's Birth." The book will tell the rags-to-riches story of a Southern teenager with a big singing voice, showing that Britney and her mother fully understand the "write what you know" concept.

Melodramatic and fictional events will be folded into the seemingly autobiographical tale, Random House said.

Britney and her mother also penned the nonfiction Heart to Heart, in which mother and daughter sound off on life, love, fame and following one's dreams (see [article id="1434383"]"Britney Spears Has A 'Heart To Heart' With Mom"[/article]).
