Pumpkins Unveil Dates For "Sacred And Profane" Tour

On the same day word arrived that their fifth album, "Machina/The Machines Of God," would debut at number three on next week's "Billboard" album chart, the Smashing Pumpkins announced the first ten dates of their "Sacred And Profane" tour.

The band will launch the ballroom and small-arena outing at the Memorial Auditorium in Kansas City, Kansas on April 8, according to an itinerary released Wednesday.

Several Midwest stops follow, including an April 1516 stand at the Aragon Ballroom in the band's hometown of Chicago. The initial leg ends on May 8 at the Hard Rock Live in Orlando, Florida.

The outing follows the band's recent "Resume The Pose" tour, in which the group signed autographs and in some cases performed in record stores throughout the country (see [article id="1434164"]"Smashing Pumpkins 'Resume' In-Store Tour"[/article]).

Additional dates for the tour will be announced, publicist Annie Ohayon said.
