Claypool, Salazar, Others "Live On" Kenny Wayne Shepherd Album

Blues prodigy Kenny Wayne Shepherd returns to record stores this week with "Live On," and he's got some high-profile friends helping him out this time around.

Gov't Mule guitarist-vocalist Warren Haynes and Third Eye Blind bassist Arion Salazar, both appear on the album, as does Primus bass player-vocalist Les Claypool. Also playing on the album are bass player Tommy Shannon, drummer Chris Layton, and keyboardist Reese Wynans; blues fans will recognize this trio of musicians as Double Trouble, backing band of the late Stevie Ray Vaughan. The album was produced by former Talking Head Jerry Harrison, whose previous credits include Live, The Violent Femmes, and The Verve Pipe, among others.

The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band, which features Shepherd on guitar and vocals, Noah Hunt on lead vocals, Keith Christopher on bass, and Sam Bryant on drums, are currently on tour. Here's where you can catch them next:
