Chili Peppers Plan Dates, Navarro Looks For Players And A Label

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have quietly scheduled three small shows in the West for September and are also setting up for a short tour of Latin America in October. The confirmed dates include Santa Barbara on September 4 and Las Vegas on September 5 and 6. The Latin American tour is expected to run from October 20 to November 6. Most of the shows are rescheduled from previous cancellations.

The band's official website includes a note to fans in "Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, America and all other countries, states, cities, provinces, townships, hamlets, villages, islands, planets, moons and asteroids who have inquired about when we're coming to YOUR location." It says "you'll have to wait for the booking agent in Los Angeles to sort out who, where, when and why we'll play in 1999 and that will be only after the new CD is finished." The note adds that Flea and Chad both have children and that touring is tough on families.

Meanwhile, former guitarist Dave Navarro says he's

looking for female musicians for his new band, Spread, also with the intention of doing some live shows. Navarro is in search of a new label as well, or at least that's what he says on his website. His status with Warner Bros. is at this point unknown. Calls to the company were not returned.
