Prepare for a meeting of the teen pop titans.
One of the many surprises set for Thursday night's 1999 MTV Video Music Awards broadcast was let out of the bag on "Total Request Live" when 'N Sync talked about teaming with Britney Spears for a performance on the awards show.
"We're doing 'Tearin' Up My Heart,' but it's not the usual 'Tearin' Up My Heart,'" 'N Sync's Lance told VJ Dave Holmes during Wednesday's "TRL."
"Basically, they were like, 'We want to do a pop set, blah, blah, blah,' and we were like, 'Sure, we'll do it'" J.C. added. "But we wanted to do it a little bit different, and you'll see what happens tonight."
'N Sync, Britney Spears, and the rest of this year's VMA crop will start filing into New York's Metropolitan Opera House at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening, which is when MTV News' coverage begins. You can tune into MTV News' pre-show coverage at 6:30, and check in with MTV News Online for updates throughout the night.
Catch all the sizzlin', star-packed VMA action direct from Miami on August 28. MTV News' preshow kicks things off at 6:30 p.m. ET/PT, followed by big show at 8 p.m.
