Bosstones' Barrett Talks Warped Tour, Red Sox

The well-tailored ska-sters in The Mighty Mighty Bosstones will release their new album, "Pay Attention," on May 2, and the band has already signed on for this year's Warped Tour, which kicks off on June 24 in Tempe, Arizona at Arizona State University.

In addition to the Bosstones, the Warped 2000 outing will also feature Green Day, The Long Beach Dub Allstars, NOFX, Papa Roach, The Suicide Machines, The Muffs, and MXPX, among others.

MTV News recently caught up with Bosstones frontman Dicky Barrett to talk about Warped, and Barrett said that he might be paying a sort of fashionable homage to his hometown baseball team, the Boston Red Sox, during the outing.

[article id="1448140"]"This summer [on] Warped Tour,"[/article] Barrett said, [article id="1448140"]"I'm thinking of wearing a full Red Sox uniform the entire summer, head-to-toe with the socks and the hat, and I might even have [Boston Red Sox pitcher Pedro] Martinez's number

on my back.

But Warped Tour, Boston Red Sox season... that's my summer [plan], and I'm not gonna bore anybody with my enthusiasm for the Red Sox, but come see Warped. It's gonna be an incredible summer tour. A good bang for your buck. It's the Bosstones, Green Day, and NOFX, and the list just goes on and on."[/article]

Barrett also talked about the reasons he felt that the Warped Tour, which is now the longest running summer festival in the U.S., was able to keep drawing audiences back year after year.

"If I was putting together a package tour," Barrett said, "and this has been going on since the Warped Tour started, it would be with the exact same bands that Kevin Lymon, the guy who puts together the Warped Tour, that he's put together.

I love it. [The Bosstones] didn't even play

last year. Actually

[we] played a couple of shows, but I still went anyway. For me, it's where the music that I love is." [RealVideo]
