Matchbox 20 Firms Up Tour Plans

Rob Thomas and his Matchbox 20 counterparts have firmed up venues for their tour to trumpet the release of the band’s second LP.

As we reported last month, the band lined up a string of twelve dates taking the road trip into June (see “Matchbox 20 Readies New Album, Tour” ). The outing now kicks off Friday night in Atlanta, and the May 24 date of the tour will take place in New York City.

The tour kicks off during the same week frontman Thomas was honored by the American performing rights organization BMI (see “Rob Thomas, Eagle-Eye Cherry Receive BMI Awards” ), and days before “Mad Season By Matchbox Twenty,” the follow-up to the group’s 11-million-selling 1996 debut “Yourself Or Someone Like You,” hits stores on May 23.
