Ricky Martin Wins Latino Awards; Will Perform At Larry King Fundraiser

On Wednesday night, Ricky Martin was busy shaking his bon-bon on stage at the kickoff of his U.S. tour at the Miami Arena in Miami, Florida. That, however, didn't stop him from dominating the Ritmo Latino Music Awards at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.

Martin bagged four Ritmo awards, the most of the evening. His trophies came for Best Male Pop Artist Or Group for "Vuelve," Music Video Of The Year for "Livin' La Vida Loca," Album Of The Year for "Vuelve"; meanwhile Franco de Vita took home Composer Of The Year for Martin's "Vuelve.

Other familiar names winning Ritmo awards included Marc Anthony (Best Salsa Artist, Male or Female, for "Contra La Corriente"), Mana (Rock En Español, Artist Or Group for "Sueños Liquidos"), Jennifer Lopez (New Artist Of The Year) and Enrique Iglesias (Song Of The Year for "Esperanza").

The Ritmo Latino Music Awards was the first award show in the history of Latin music where winners are determined by fans. The voting for the

ceremony took place in August and September at Vons Grocers, Ritmo Latino record stores, and Red Lobster restaurants across the country.

The Telemundo Network will televise the event as a two-hour special on November 7 at 9:00 p.m. (ET). Acceptance speeches from Martin, Anthony, Lopez, Iglesias, Mana and others are being taped this month, and will be inserted into the broadcast.

In other Ricky Martin news, the ever-busy singer will be spending a day off on his tour schedule ( see [article id="1431861"]"Ricky Martin Launches Tour In Miami"[/article]) to lend a helping hand to Larry King. On November 2, Martin will perform at a fundraising benefit for the Larry King Cardiac Foundation taking place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The black-tie event, which will also feature performances by Jose Feliciano and comedian Paul Rodriguez, will sport a ticket price of $1000, with table sponsorships ranging from $10,000 to $100,000. For ticket information

for the benefit, call (301) 206-2213. (Please note this is not a toll-free call.)
