Madonna-Penned Tune Tops U.K. Charts

May 8 [7:55 EST] -- Madonna has the number one song in England right now... sort of.

The chart-topping single, [article id="1447551"]"Love Won't Wait," [Video, 600k QuickTime][/article] is performed by Gary Barlow, the former lead singer of the now-disbanded U.K. teen group Take That.

The tune, however, was written by Madonna and her longtime collaborator Shep Pettibone. A spokesperson for Madonna told MTV News that it was Pettibone who arranged for Barlow to get that song.

Love Won't Wait," which debuted atop the U.K. chart, will be released in this country next month, followed by an album by Barlow in August.

As for Madonna, she's now the subject of a "Rolling Stone Files" book collecting every article and review that magazine has ever run on her, from the beginning.
