As she prepares to unveil a new album, Madonna delivered something even more highly anticipated on Friday: her first son.
The recording star's spokespeople at Warner Bros. Records confirm that Madonna gave birth to a baby boy, Rocco Ritchie, on Friday, August 11. The child is Madonna's first with British director Guy Ritchie, and all are said to be resting "safe and sound" at an undisclosed location.
Warner Bros. is not expected to release any further information about Madonna's new arrival.
The singer gave birth to a daughter, Lourdes, in 1996.
The news comes a little more than a month before the expected release of her new album, "Music." The album's first single, "Music," has already hit radio, and Madonna has described the rest of the album as "funkier and edgier" (see "UPDATE: Madonna Promises 'Funkier, Edgier' New Album, Talks Club Dates").
