Machine Head Taps Master P Director For New Video

This weekend, San Francisco hard rockers Machine Head will step aside from their tour with Coal Chamber to shoot the first video from their new album, "The Burning Red.

On Saturday, the band will meet up with director Michael Martin, who lensed Master P's "Make 'Em Say Uhhh" video, to shoot a clip for "From This Day." Martin has a number of hip-hop videos to his credit, and his high-flash influence can be seen not only in his own work but also in that of one-time protégé David Myers, who has directed clips for Kid Rock and Powerman 5000.

We're really happy to get him because he's got that totally flashy, over the top, full-on excess video thing, and we're all into that," Machine Head frontman Robert Flynn told MTV News this week. "We really wanted to have something new and fresh looking. Even though we play rock music, I didn't think we really needed to make Metallica-style videos.

As for what awaits the band this weekend at the shoot, Flynn explained that the video

will feature the band playing in a room illuminated by flares and candles while a camera pans down through the floor where fans are getting their groove on in the apartment below.

I've really got a good vibe off of it," Flynn added. "It seems like a cool idea.

After the shoot, the band will have to hustle to make it to their gig with Coal Chamber in Asbury Park. If you want to catch Machine Head on the road with Coal Chamber and Slipknot, here's where to look:
