Sarah McLachlan And Tour Chef Cook Up Vegetarian Victuals For New Book

Sarah McLachlan has teamed up with her touring chef, Jaime Laurita, to offer an inside look at the singer's on-the-road cuisine for a new cookbook, "Plenty: A Collection Of Sarah McLachlan's Favourite Recipes," due in stores this week.

Laurita was hired to be McLachlan's chef back in 1997 after leaving a catering position on the Rolling Stones' "Bridges To Babylon" tour when McLachlan was searching for a cook who specialized in vegetarian dishes.

Plenty" contains over 200 recipes for various appetizers, entrees, and desserts from Laurita and McLachlan, including one for her own "Writer's Block (Oatmeal Raisin) Cookies.

In line with McLachlan's own diet, most of the dishes contained in the cookbook are vegetarian in nature, although there are a few fish recipes included as well. (Poultry and meat eaters are advised to look elsewhere.)

[Jaime's] tour cooking is on par with some of the best restaurants I've eaten in," McLachlan writes in the book's introduction,

"and he always manages to make the food taste and look fantastic, even in the middle of nowhere.

In addition to cooking up such foodstuffs, McLachlan has also recently recorded a new track, "When She Loved Me," a song penned by Randy Newman for the "Toy Story 2" soundtrack, due out on November 9 (see [article id="1431509"]Sarah McLachlan, Randy Newman Team Up For 'Toy Story 2' Track"[/article]).
