Page And Plant On Pearl Jam

Almost immediately after Pearl Jam's "Given To Fly" [500k QuickTime] hit airwaves last year, many people noticed a striking similarity between that song and Led Zeppelin's "Going To California" [500k QuickTime] from its classic fourth album.

So when Zep alumni Jimmy Page and Robert Plant sat down with MTV News last week to discuss their new album, "Walking To Clarksdale," the topic of that Pearl Jam track eventually came up.

[article id="1446874"]"I know that they haven't heard 'Going to California,'"[/article] said Plant rather sarcastically, [article id="1446874"]"so it's just one of those amazing coincidences [500k QuickTime][/article]. Do you think that somebody sang it to them in the cradle or something like that and it just came back? I don't know ... I don't think they'd have heard that though, it's a bit obscure, isn't it?

Pearl Jam also says any similarities between the two songs are coincidental. As we previously reported (see [article id="1431136"]"Page and Plant Set Tour Dates"[/article]), Page and Plant will launch its U.S. tour May 19 in Pensacola, Florida, while Pearl Jam will hit the road June 20 in Missoula, Montana.
