Scott Weiland Praises Limp Bizkit, Korn, Orgy

Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland will have a new song in stores when the highly anticipated soundtrack to the Mike Myers movie, "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me," is released.

The soundtrack features the singer's collaboration with Big Blue Missile on a cover of the Zombies classic "Time of the Season." Weiland believes that rock music is making a return from the dead, and he told MTV News all about it during a recent stay in the studio with Limp Bizkit leader Fred Durst.

[article id="1446690"]"There's starting to be some excitement within rock and roll again,"[/article] Weiland told MTV News. [article id="1446690"]"You know, I think rock and roll and alternative music has gotten fairly stale and kind of boring in the last couple of years, since the earlier part of the '90s. And there's some good things happening again, sort of like a breath of fresh air. You know, bands like Limp Bizkit and Korn... Orgy, and a few others." [RealVideo][/article]

Also resuscitating rock on the star-studded "Austin Powers" soundtrack are such acts as Madonna, Lenny Kravitz, R.E.M., and "Scary Spice" Melanie G (see [article id="1428980"]"'Austin Powers' Lures Scott Weiland, Flaming Lips"[/article]). The album is out on Tuesday.
