Jay-Z Has "Thriller"-Like Aspirations For New Album, Singles

Multi-platinum rapper Jay-Z, better known to his mom as Shawn Carter, has just completed work on his fourth album, titled "Vol. 3... The Life And Times of S. Carter," due out on December 28.

Dr. Dre and Mariah Carey are just a few of the guests that appear on the record, which also features production assistance from Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, and Gang Starr's DJ Premier.

In a recent interview with MTV News, the rapper said he's hoping that the new album will prove to be as hit-filled as Michael Jackson's epochal "Thriller" (which spawned seven Top 10 singles), although he won't be taking that comparison too far.

[article id="1446198"] "I'm not trying to make 'Thriller,'"[/article] Jay-Z said. [article id="1446198"] "I'm not trying to make 'Beat It.' I'm not trying to moonwalk. I might get a bubble, but that's about it. No monkeys, nothing. It's just... as far as the songs [on the album], it was nine songs. Nine hot songs, you know

what I'm saying. Nine singles." [RealVideo][/article]

Jay-Z has also wrapped up the video for his new album's first single, "Do It Again," which should hit airwaves early next month.
