INXS May Reform As Farriss Bros, Tribute Concert Planned

The surviving members of INXS are likely to reform under the band's original name, the Farriss Brothers, after the summer.

Tim Farriss told the "Melbourne Age" that he and brothers Jon and Andrew along with bandmates Garry Gary Beers and Kirk Pengilly will be reconvening in September to discuss their future and that the original handle was a strong option. The band began its life as the Farriss Brothers in 1977 and was renamed INXS in 1979.

Farriss told the paper that continuing as INXS with a different lead singer after the death of Michael Hutchence was never even considered. "There could never be a replacement for Michael," he said.

Farriss also confirmed that invites have been issued to performers close to Hutchence, including U2, David Bowie, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Nick Cave, Iggy Pop and Tom Jones, to perform at a large tribute concert to be staged late this year or early next year in the U.S. or Britain. The show would see the artists sing their favorite

INXS songs. A more regional production featuring some of Australia's biggest rock stars is also planned for Hutchence's homeland.

Proceeds from both the shows will benefit Hutchence's daughter, 23-month old Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lilly.
