Primus Lines Up Post-Family Values Dates

The road seemingly never ends for Primus. Less than a week after Family Values winds up on Halloween in Biloxi, Mississippi, the San Francisco-based group will be headlining its own multi-artist bill.

Primus, who will be joining Family Values starting October 13 in Minneapolis, will kick off its own tour on November 6 in Cleveland. Opening up will be Family Values '98 veterans Incubus and the perpetually masked guitar wizard known as Buckethead.

Buckethead is a name familiar to Primus fans; the mysterious KFC pail-wearing guitarist joined the band during many of its sets on the Ozzfest '99 tour, and Primus bass player Les Claypool and drummer Brain both appear on Buckethead's new album, "Monsters And Robots."

Primus used its Ozzfest '99 stage time not only to promote Buckethead, but also to premiere "Anti-Pop," the title track from its upcoming album. Due in stores on October 19, the disc will include contributions by some of the band's more high-profile friends,

including Tom Waits, Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, Metallica's James Hetfield, Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst, former Police member Stewart Copeland and former Faith No More member Jim Martin (see "Primus Enlists Fred Durst, James Hetfield, Tom Morello, Others For New Album").

Holding fans over until the release of "Anti-Pop" is the "Jack Keruoac Reads On the Road" album, which contains another new collaboration between Primus and Tom Waits, "On The Road." That album is in stores now.
