An American Airlines plane flying from New York to Los Angeles Thursday night was forced to land in Denver to eject a passenger who was harassing members of Hootie & the Blowfish.

After recognizing that Hootie & the Blowfish were seated in the first class section of Flight 133, the passenger, Ambit Singh, approached the band and inquired about autographs, as well as advice on how to get into the record industry, according to The Associated Press.

Later during the flight, Singh, whom police say appeared to be "extremely intoxicated," became belligerent and attacked the band's bodyguard and wrestled with flight attendants until he had to be forcibly restrained.

The American Airlines flight was delayed for almost an hour by the layover in Denver, during which police officials and airport security took Singh into custody. Singh, who could face federal charges for disrupting the operation of a plane under Federal Aviation Administration guidelines, was then taken to

a local hospital and kept overnight for medical examination. He was scheduled to be released today.
