MTV's Tom Green Battles Cancer

Unconventional MTV personality Tom Green has just announced that he has been diagnosed with testicular cancer and has already undergone one round of surgery with a second to follow this week.

Currently, the funnyman is in the process of preparing a one-hour special for MTV documenting these procedures to help inform the public. In addition, he has created the Tom Green's Nuts Cancer Fund (which can be reached at Tom Green's Nuts Cancer Fund, c/o California Community Foundation, 445 S. Figueroa Street, Suite #3400, Los Angeles, CA 90071).

Green's hellbent-for-laughs approach to comedy prompted many to doubt this latest bit of news, but spokespeople for MTV and for Green himself confirm that Green's diagnosis is no joke.

During his treatment, Green will be taking a break from his popular program and is slated to be back to work within a few months. Currently, he is said to be in excellent spirits and expected to make a full recovery.

Green first began his brand

of kamikaze comedy on Canadian television before bringing it to MTV, and he will be seen in the upcoming film "Road Trip," slated for release in mid-May.
