Tommy Lee Talks About Hooking Up With Rob Zombie As Crue "Hits" Arrive

Mötley Crüe is currently making the press rounds to drum up support for its recently released "Greatest Hits," but much of the attention the band is receiving is falling on the band's notorious drummer, Tommy Lee.

Rock and roll's eternal teen has grown up a bit since being released from prison on September 5 after serving four months of a 180-day sentence for assaulting his wife Pamela Anderson Lee.

Lee sobered up while behind bars, and also tried to clean up his dumb drummer image by reading child care manuals and Deepak Chopra self-help books while serving out his sentence. Despite the sobering experience, Lee firmly believes that he deserved to be in jail.

He was eager to get back behind the drum kit, so much so that he sat in during the recording of Rob Zombie's solo album and wound up on two tracks on Zombie's "Hellbilly Deluxe.

who produced our 'Generation Swine' album and was currently working on Rob Zombie's record,"[/article] Lee explained to MTV News recently. [article id="1443916"]"I went to his house after I got out of jail to stay for a while, and I think I was there about a day or two and they were working on the record downstairs and Scott and Rob were like, 'Dude, Tommy's upstairs, we should ask him to play.' And they asked me to play and I was like, 'I would love to play right now. I could really use...you know, just kind of check out, really do some music' and I ended up playing like four tracks or so on the record. It was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed it, Rob's a cool guy." Lee guests on Zombie's "Meet The Creeper" and "The Ballad Of Resurrection Joe And Rosa Whore.

Of course, he's all over Mötley Crüe's "Greatest Hits," which arrived in stores last week.
