Everclear To Shoot Video Of Thin Lizzy Cover For "Detroit Rock City"

It seems that Everclear and not Marilyn Manson will launch the first retro salvo from the soundtrack to the upcoming film "Detroit Rock City.

Everclear's cover of the Thin Lizzy classic "The Boys Are Back In Town" will be the first single from the album, and the band will shoot a video for the track next Tuesday and Wednesday in Los Angeles. The shoot will see the band hook up with Kiss bassist Gene Simmons (who will don his trademark face paint) and some of the film's stars, including Eddie Furlong ("American History X," "Terminator 2").

Everclear frontman Art Alexakis and "Detroit Rock City" director Adam Rifkin will co-direct the video.

As we reported earlier, Manson's cover of the AC/DC nugget "Highway To Hell" was originally tapped as the first single from the soundtrack, but now it appears that Everclear will do the honors (see [article id="1424678"]"Marilyn Manson To Shoot Video For 'Highway To Hell' Cover"[/article]).

Everclear and Manson are

joined on the soundtrack by The Donnas, Drain STH, and Kiss, who kick in classic tracks as well as one new song (see [article id="1428324"]"Manson, Everclear, More To Visit 'Detroit Rock City'"[/article]).

The soundtrack hits stores on August 3, while the film (which follows a group of Kiss fans desperately trying to get into a sold out Kiss concert in 1978) opens on August 13.
