Deborah Cox Dabbles In Acting, Will Perform At Cannes
Deborah Cox, who scored her first platinum album with 1998's "One Wish," is about to accomplish another career first, as the Canadian-born singer will make her U.S. acting debut on CBS-TV's "Nash Bridges" on Friday night.
Cox will appear as a San Francisco Police Department Detective named "Vanessa Swan." The producers of "Nash Bridges" also tell Cox's label, Arista Records, that the character will be a recurring role for her.
On another acting note, Cox has finished shooting her first feature film role in a Canadian production called "Love Come Down." In the flick, produced by The Film Works and Conquering Lion Pictures, Deborah plays the role of "Niko," a young singer who helps a struggling comedian named "Neville," played by Larenz Tate ("Love Jones," "Why Do Fools Fall In Love").On the music side of things, Deborah has accepted an invitation to perform at this year's Cannes Film Festival on May 17 as part of a special benefit for the National Women'sCancer Research Alliance.
The latest single from "One Wish" is a song called "September," which was co-written by Deborah and producer Stevie J.
