Elvis Costello, Roots, Megadeth, Others Added To Woodstock Lineup
Elvis Costello, The Roots, Al Green, and Bruce Hornsby are the latest artists booking passage to Rome, New York for this summer's Woodstock '99 festival.
On Monday, the Woodstock camp ended days of speculation, announcing the latest wave of additions to the three-day concert. In addition to Costello, The Roots, Hornsby, and Green, the festival also announced the addition of Megadeth and Sevendust, confirming reports that came from those bands late last week (see [article id="1430286"]"Megadeth, Sevendust, Ben Lee, Indigenous Headed To Woodstock"[/article]).
The acts join Korn, Limp Bizkit, DMX, Jewel, Alanis Morissette, the Dave Matthews Band, Rage Against The Machine, and a collection of artists that is now close to 50 strong.
"The great thing about playing Woodstock '99 is the tremendous amount of talent that will be there for this event," Megadeth leader Dave Mustaine offered in the announcement. "We look forward to not only playing, but also checking out
some of the other great bands on the bill."
Whether or not that statement includes Mustaine's former colleagues in Metallica remains to be seen.
Along with how Mustaine will get on with the band that booted him 16 years ago, the new Woodstock additions raise a number of questions. Will Bruce Hornsby join Limp Bizkit for a piano-drenched version of "Nookie?" Will Elvis Costello tap the Insane Clown Posse to help him sing "Alison?" And will Al Green and Godsmack ever be on the same bill again? The answer across the board is "probably not," but you can find out for yourself when Woodstock '99 unfolds on July 23-25 in Rome, New York.
Tickets for the show are still available through www.ticketmaster.com, and if you can't make the trek to upstate New York you can catch the entire weekend's worth of fun live on pay-per-view. Of course, MTV News will be on hand as well, bringing you coverage of the event live.
