Chris Cornell Feels "Sweet Euphoria" About Solo Debut

Former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell is finally getting ready to release his first solo album, "Euphoria Morning," which he has been working on for the past six months in a Los Angeles studio.

"Euphoria Morning" will be released on September 21 and features Cornell backed by guitarist Alain Johannes and bassist Natasha Shneider of the L.A.-based group Eleven.

In a statement announcing the release date of Cornell's solo debut, the singer said that the album would feature a different tone and dynamic than the material he produced as a member of Soundgarden.

"With Soundgarden," Cornell wrote, "I assumed the role as another instrument in the band. The lyrics I wrote were often influenced by the mood of the music. With this solo record, the reverse happened. The music is tailored to the mood of the lyrics."

Cornell plans to issue "Can't Change Me," the lead-off track from the new album, as the first single on August 9.
