Common, Tricky, Roni Size, More For NY Concert Series

SummerStage, an outdoor music festival held each summer in New York City's Central Park, has announced its 2000 schedule, which coincides with the organization's 15th anniversary.

According to the SummerStage website, the 2000 schedule will feature performances from a wide variety of performers with a focus on electronic music. Past series have featured the Gypsy Kings, the Indigo Girls and jazz legends such as the late Sun Ra and his Arkestra. Over the last five years, the SummerStage series has programmed a more urban-oriented festival with hip-hop and electronic concerts amidst the international performers that are SummerStage mainstays. SummerStage events are free and held most weekends from June through August.

Highlights of the Summer 2000 schedule include:

  • Common, June 24
  • The Tragically Hip, the Jeff Healy Band, July 1
  • Masters as Work, Roy Ayers, DJ "Little" Louie Vega, July
