Sean Combs Reaches Settlement On Final CCNY Suit

It appears that Sean "Puffy" Combs has reached the end of nearly ten years of legal wrangling brought about by the tragic stampede at a benefit show and basketball game he helped produce at the City College of New York gymnasium back in 1991.

On Wednesday, Combs reached an undisclosed financial settlement with Nicole Levy, a woman who had filed a $2 million lawsuit against the Bad Boy Records impresario, claiming that she was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and a condition called Graves' disease because of the incident.

Reached on Thursday by MTV News, one of Puffy's lawyers, Luke Pittoni, reiterated the statement issued by Combs' legal team the previous day. "It remains clear that Nicole Levy's case is without merit," he said. "Rather than having protracted litigation, we have come to an acceptable resolution and are very pleased with the outcome.

Pittoni also indicated that Wednesday's settlement effectively brought a close to all of the

pending cases involving either Combs or Heavy D, who co-produced the CCNY benefit with Combs.

While Pittoni did not want to discuss specifics of the case, he did mention that if the lawsuit had gone before a jury, they planned on calling many eyewitnesses to the event, including a woman who was also one of Levy's closest friends and who was with her at the time of the incident, to testify against her.

In addition to the amount paid to Levy, Combs has spent an estimated $750,000 to settle a series of lawsuits brought about by others injured and the relatives of those killed during the stampede (see [article id="1427285"]"Puffy Sued Once Again Over CCNY Tragedy"[/article]).
