German industrial bands KMFDM and Rammstein have been subject to some bad publicity since last Tuesday's tragedy at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado.

Lyrics to some of KMFDM's songs, including "Son of a Gun," had been mentioned on a website maintained by Eric Harris, one of the two alleged gunmen.

KMFDM founder Sasha Konietzko said in a statement this week that the band members are "sick and appalled" by the shootings and do not "condone any Nazi beliefs whatsoever."

Bizarrely, the now-defunct group, which last month announced a future comeback as MDFMK (see [article id="1430887"]"KMFDM Changes Its Letters, Finds New Record Label"[/article]), released its final album, "Adios," on the same day as the attack.

Rammstein has also received negative attention, as members of the so-called "Trenchcoat Mafia," the clique the gunmen were purported to belong to, reportedly listen to the metal band's music.

On Friday, the band expressed its condolences

through a statement, which insisted the members "have no lyrical content or political beliefs that could have possibly influenced such behavior."

The statement continued, "Members of Rammstein have children of their own, in whom they continually strive to instill healthy and non-violent values."
