Re-mastered Clash Albums To See Re-release In 2000

It's been quite a year for Clash fans, and next year promises even more bounty from the legendary quartet.

The entire Clash catalog, save the band's final studio effort, 1985's "Cut The Crap" (recorded after the band fired guitarist Mick Jones), will receive the remastering treatment and be reissued on January 25, 2000.

The band's 1977 self-titled debut will be released in both its U.K. and U.S. versions separately. The rest of the catalog set for reissue is 1978's "Give 'Em Enough Rope;" 1979's "London Calling;" 1980's "Sandinista!" and 1982's "Combat Rock."

Also seeing re-release will be three Clash compilations: "The Story Of The Clash, Volume 1," a 1988 triple album collection (on two CDs); 1994's "Super Black Market Clash," which combines the 1980 EP "Black Market Clash" with assorted singles and remixes; and 1996's "The Singles," which has previously only been available in the U.S. as an import.

While the band has avoided taking the reunion plunge,

there has been a lot of Clash-related activity in recent months. Among the releases fans have been inundated with over the past year or so are the tribute album "Burning London," the live album "From Here To Eternity," a documentary film titled "West Way To The World," and a brand new album by the band's guitarist-singer, Joe Strummer (see [article id="1427149"]"Former Clash Members Get Together To View Documentary; Joe Strummer Plans Another Tour"[/article]).
