Lori Carson Runs Wild

November 14 [12:15 EDT] -- Critically adored and popularly ignored, singer/songwriter Lori Carson is back with her third solo LP, "Everything I Touch Runs Wild.

The native New Yorker got her start at the legendary venue Folk City (where Jakob's father Bob Dylan got his start as well). In 1992, Anton Fier, founder of The Golden Palominos, approached her about working together. The Palaminos, a critically respected musical collective, has had revolving members over the years such as Michael Stipe, Bootsy Collins, and Richard Thompson. Carson joined and was lead vocalist on two Palomino records, "This Is How It Feels" in '93 and "Pure" in '94.

Fier went on to produce Carson's '95 second solo LP "Where It Goes" and he put finishing studio touches on "Runs Wild." Most of the album was produced by Carson herself, who recorded all of the songs originally on a four-track, alone in her empty West Village apartment. Carson has also contributed songs to the soundtracks for "Stealing

Beauty" and "Strange Days." In addition, she is collaborating on two other projects due out in '97: "Vision II" with composer Graeme Revell and "City of Light" with bass player Bill Laswell.

Lori Carson just may be one of the hardest working, most critically admired, and least-known singer/songwriting women in music -- though perhaps not for much longer.
