Old 97's To Open For Cake

After building up steam with its own club tour, Dallas quartet the Old 97's plans to derail from some of its previously announced shows in order to open a string of dates with Cake, beginning on June 6 in Detroit.

The Old 97's are currently riding the rails in support of its new album, "Fight Songs," and the first single, "Murder (Or a Heart Attack)," which is beginning to earn some heavy rotation from such rock outlets as KROQ in Los Angeles.

With its mix of jangle-pop guitars and three-part harmonies, "Fight Songs" is not as roughhewn as the band's previous punk-tinged albums, but the Old 97's recently told MTV News that its concerts will remain as raucous as ever.

be a little quieter and that people might get a little freaked out. But we talked about it, and there's no way we could pull off a live show that has much subtlety."[/article]

[article id="1441071"]"Live [we're] the same old thing,"[/article] added bassist Murry Hammond.
