David Bowie Makes Millennium Date While Phish Changes Plans

Always ahead of the curve, David Bowie has made plans that will see him among the first people on the planet to ring in the new millennium, while Phish is still looking for a place to party.

As music fans start to make plans for the coming of the new year, take note that Bowie and Split Enz are now scheduled to perform in Gisborne City, New Zealand, the first site to see the sunrise in the year 2000. The Thin White Duke is expected to perform a full set at 12:01 am, followed by various local acts, then he'll take the stage again at sunrise to perform an acoustic millennium song that he wrote for the occasion.

On the Y2K flip side, Phish was expected to perform in Oahu, Hawaii on December 29, 30, and 31, but has now opted to look for a new site, possibly on the continental mainland. Though no new location has been named, promoters say that they're looking to make the event more accessible to the fans.
