Rage Sets Club Dates, "Letterman" Appearance; Video Plans Still Fuzzy

As the release date of Rage Against The Machine's third album draws near, some of the band's plans are coming into focus, including a visit to "The Late Show With David Letterman.

Rage's new album, "The Battle Of Los Angeles," arrives on November 2, and the band will mark the release with a performance on Letterman's "Late Show." The band's label, Epic Records, says that the band will take to the streets of New York for the performance in a move similar to the one the Smashing Pumpkins made when playing the show last year.

The group has also lined up the final two stops of its three-date club tour, which kicks off this Saturday in New York (see [article id="1433565"]"Rage Against The Machine Lining Up Club Dates Before New Album Drops"[/article]). Rage will hit Washington, D.C. on October 31 and Los Angeles on November 5, though Epic notes that venues have yet to be announced.

While Public Enemy will open the New York show, Epic also says that the band

has not yet settled on opening acts for the Washington or Los Angeles shows.

Rage will likely play to a crowd more in line with the hordes the group is used to when they co-headline next month's two-day Coachella Music And Arts Festival, which also boasts sets from Tool, Beck, the Chemical Brothers, Morrissey, Pavement, Perry Farrell, Ben Harper, Bis, Cibo Matto, and others.

While these tidbits should tide over anxious Rage fans, bigger news about a full-blown U.S. tour or a new video is still to come. The band is still mapping out its tour plans and is also still mulling over plans for the first video from "The Battle Of Los Angeles." Epic said that Rage will shoot a video for "Guerilla Radio," the album's first single, though the particulars of the shoot remain to be determined.
