The Beastie Boys and Rage Against The Machine will join forces this summer for the "Rhyme & Reason 2000" tour of stadiums and amphitheaters across North America, with the outing scheduled to kick off on August 2 in Toronto and continue into September.

The tour will also feature various guest artists supporting the Beasties and RATM at each city, including Green Day, Busta Rhymes, and Common, among others, although the exact guest act for each city is still being sorted out.

The Beastie Boys' Adam Horovitz and Mike Diamond dropped by MTV's Times Square studios on Tuesday afternoon to announce the tour during "TRL" and were joined via telephone by Rage guitarist Tom Morello, who is on the road with the Machine in Japan.

In an interview with MTV News' John Norris, Morello talked about how the idea for the "Rhyme And Reason" tour came about.
